So you're curious about healthy sleep habits and keeping your baby happy and well-rested, but you aren't sure where to start. I've got your answer - Eat, Wake, Sleep Schedules!

The benefits to a schedule that follows the eat, wake, sleep (EWS) pattern are endless. Some of my favorites (and the reasons I use this method for my clients) are;

1. No sleep props! By feeding baby when they wake instead of to fall asleep you avoid creating a sleep prop where your baby needs to eat to fall asleep.

2. Avoid the problems associated with snack feeding. These can include everything from failure to gain weight to habitual cat napping. The flow of the EWS schedule encourages baby to take full feeds at developmentally appropriate increments.

3. Encourage longer naps. By maintaining an appropriate waketime before naps, the EWS schedule helps to encourage naps that last longer and continue right up to the next feeding.

4. Predictability.While you might think creating/following a schedule sounds complicated, having the structure in place will create a predictable schedule that helps make your life easier (talk about the ultimate #momgoal right?)

My sample schedules are FREE and easy to use. When I got started with sleep consulting I knew I wanted to create something that was easy to use and fun to look at. I decided to use emojis to keep things straightforward and wordless. One question I get is about the cat seen on some on these schedules- that stands for a cat nap, or intentionally shorter nap that lasts 30-50 minutes in most cases.
